Copacabana and Ipanema

It is one of the most famous districts of the city of Rio de Janeiro , Brazil. Located in the southern part of the city, Copacabana has a beautiful crescent shaped beach and is nicknamed the Little Princess because of its golden age in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. Bohemian neighborhood, glamor and wealth, Copacabana gave birth to many songs, books, paintings and photographs, becoming a tourist reference of Brazil. The neighborhood borders on Lagoa, Ipanema, Botafogo and Leme.

The Forte de Copacabana was inaugurated on September 28, 1914, by the then President of the Republic Marshal Hermes da Fonseca. Its casamata-shaped construction was a challenge to military engineering. The 12m-thick outer walls face the German Krupp cannons (305mm, 190mm and 75mm), seated in rotating and domed domes. Coming from laguna, Santa Catarina, the 6th Independent Battery of Artillery Position, settled in the Fort of Copacabana beginning the History of the most formidable square of war of Latin America.

Copacabana is one of the most beautiful, cosmopolitan and thriving neighborhoods in the city, attracting a large contingent of tourists to its more than 80 hotels, which are especially crowded during New Year 's Eve and Carnival .

Perhaps even more irresistible than the muse that inspired the song " Girl from Ipanema, " which immortalized her. Ipanema is undoubtedly a famous meeting point of Rio de Janeiro . Sophisticated and with an intense nightlife, the neighborhood is a happy gathering of beach, bars and shopping stores. Permanent attraction during the day, the beach also receives a large number of goers at night.
